The Great ALPV Scavenger Haunt FAQs

  1.  When is The Great ALPV Scavenger Haunt?
    The game begins at 5:00 p.m. PDT on Friday, October 23 and ends at 5:00 p.m. PDT on Sunday, October 25, 2020. It’s 48 hours of extreme fun!
  2. How much does it cost to participate?
    The registration fee is $40 per team. This is a fundraiser for Assistance League of Pomona Valley and 100% of game revenue will directly support our Dental Center and Operation School Bell® programs.
  3. How many members can be on a team?
    Teams can be up to 5 members with one person designated as the team captain. The team captain will need to download the GooseChase app on their phone and create an account (accounts are free on  the app) prior to the game. It is recommended to have at least 2 people on a team, but individuals can play solo.
  4. How do you register for the game?
    Your team captain needs to visit https://eventregistration.alpv.org/registration to register your team. Be sure to answer all questions on the registration page.
  5. Where do we play the game?
    This is a virtual scavenger hunt on the GooseChase app that is played in your own home and in your surrounding community. Anyone can participate as the missions are not geographically specific. Your team captain will need to download the GooseChase app on their phone and create an account to access the game and submit videos/photos when missions are completed. Only one phone/GooseChase account can be used per team.
  6. How do we access the game?
    The Great ALPV Scavenger Haunt is a private game, so you will not be able to access the game until 5:00 p.m. on October 23, 2020. You will receive a private game code via email to access the game.
  7. How do we play the game?
    Your team captain will need to login to their GooseChase account and enter the game code and once 5:00 p.m. strikes on October 23, your team can begin completing missions.  Visit https://www.goosechase.com/how-it-works/playing/ for more details about playing the game on the GooseChase app.
  8.  How do we complete missions?
    To complete a mission, select it from the mission list and follow the instructions to receive the allotted points. You will either need to submit a photo or video to show proof of completion. Some missions will require all team members to participate, so be sure to follow the rules in each mission.
  9. How many missions are in the game and what types of things will we have to do during the missions?
    There will be over 50 missions to complete during the game, so you’ll want to complete as many as possible. Here are a couple of mission examples:
    ♦  Secret Talent-take a photo or video or a team member demonstrating their secret talent.

    ♦  Collections-we all have them. Take a photo of a team member with their collection. The wackier the collection the better.
    ♦  The Art of the Fold – submit a video of your team’s best attempt at folding a fitted sheet.
  10. Are there prizes? 
    Yes, we will be awarding the top three teams Amazon gift cards. The first place prize is a $300 gift card, second place is a $200 gift card and third place is a $100 gift card. Once the game ends, mission submissions will be verified for completeness. We will also be giving out a variety of $25 gift cards as the game unfolds. These will be awarded randomly for things like being the first team to complete a mission or most creative submission for a specific mission. These prize missions will be kept secret, so you never know when you might win a prize!
  11. What if there is a tie for the winners?
    In the event of a tie, the time of submissions will be used to break the tie. If 2 teams have 500 points, the first team to have reached 500 first will be declared the winner. There is a live activity feed within the app that will be updated as teams complete missions, so each team can easily see where they stand.
